Prof Steffen Willwacher

Professor of Biomechanics and Fundamentals of Engineering - Offenburg University of Applied Sciences

Prof. Dr. Steffen Willwacher is Professor of Biomechanics and Fundamentals of Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg, Germany. He is a senior member of the International Society of Biomechanics and the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports.

His research focuses on the analysis of the biomechanics of human locomotion, from the study of walking to maximal fast sprinting, from patients to world record holders in athletics. Another focus of his work is the analysis of the interaction of humans with technical aids, e.g. footwear, orthotics or prosthetics. A major focus of most of his projects is to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury and overuse.

Prof. Willwacher's work has received several international scientific awards (e.g. the New and the Emerging Researcher Award of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport). His work has been published in numerous international journals, books and conference proceedings
