Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Founder of The Injury Clinic (Geelong)

About

Laura Anderson is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and founder of The Injury Clinic in Geelong. She graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008 and later completed a Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Laura remains closely involved with La Trobe, where she is completing her PhD on shin pain in runners and has contributed as a tutor in the Master of Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy program.

Her clinical expertise and research focus on running related injuries, particularly the management of shin pain, and include lab-based investigations into the effects of running retraining as well as a clinical trial examining rehabilitation strategies for runners with load induced medial leg pain (LIMP). This research reflects her patient load and ensures direct translation to clinical practice. Her recent editorial, ‘Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome Needs a New Name—Make No Bones About It’, gained attention for exploring the patho-anatomy and management of medial tibial stress syndrome and for challenging the prevailing view that the condition lies on the bone stress continuum.

With extensive experience in treating running related injuries and a strong research portfolio, Laura offers a unique perspective on managing shin pain in runners, bridging the gap between laboratory findings, clinical trials, and everyday patient care.
